Milford Basketball Association – Kindergarten and 1st Grade (K-1) League FAQ’s

Who? Any Kindergarten or 1st grader living in the Milford area

What? A “beginner” league which focuses on learning the basic fundamentals of basketball, having fun and practicing good sportsmanship.  The season consists of 8 total weeks of one-hour sessions that will occur on WEEKENDS only.  Each of these one-hour sessions will be 30 minutes of a “practice” type setting (working on skills) and a 30 minute “game” (to put those skills to good use).  The games are ALL about the players having fun – not winning or losing!

When? The one-hour sessions will occur on Saturdays (typically between 9am and 5pm) or Sundays (typically between 1pm and 5pm) on a rotating basis.  The season is tentatively scheduled to start the weekend of Saturday January 7th and run through Sunday February 25th.

Where? All sessions will take place at Boyd Elementary School gymnasium

Other FAQ’s:

·         How will teams be chosen?  While we cannot guarantee your child will be placed on a team with other friends, classmates, etc, we do try our best to place your son or daughter on teams that have other children from their school.  Our intent is to place them on a team with familiar faces! Last year, each team had a mixture of Kindergarten and 1st graders and that will likely be the same this year, depending on the number of players who register.

·         What equipment does my child need? We will provide the basketballs.  All you need is a water bottle!  There will be concessions available as well.

·         If I register, when will I hear back from my child’s coach?  We typically formulate the teams in early December so you most likely will not hear from your child’s coach until Mid-December after the coaches meeting.
