1.) When are the Athletic Tryouts held?
They are usually held Mid-August (depending on when we can get the gym time since the schools are still closed). Information will be sent through our website, Facebook, Twitter, and emailed to coaches.
2.) Can I watch my child during tryouts?
No, the only people allowed in the gyms are the players and evaluators.
3.) How soon will I be notified my child made the Athletic team?
We try to notify parents within 24 hours. Payment is due within 48 hours of notification. If payment is not received by the deadline, your child's "spot" will be offered to the next player.
4.) When are practices held?
It will depend on your child's coaches schedule. Our gym time availability goes from 5:30-10pm Monday-Friday. No practices on Holidays and school closures. We try to keep the younger kids at the earlier times and the older kids at the later times. Athletic teams practice 2x/week and Rec teams practice 1x/week.
5.) How long is the season?
Practices usually begin Late October. Games begin early December and runs through Mid March. Athletic teams play a 20 game schedule and Rec teams play a 10 game schedule.
6.) What are the fees?
$150 for Recreational and $275 for Athletic. The multi player discount of $20 is still in effect for the 2018-2019 season and will be applied after paying full price for the first player.
7.) I would like to Coach my child, what do I need to do?
Fill out a coaches application. Information will be given to you in order to complete a State mandated on-line concussion certification, NAYS on-line coaches certification and you must pass a background check. All of this MUST be completed BEFORE your first practice in October. No certs...no practice times will be given!
8.) My child wants to play on the same team as his/her friends, is that possible?
We make every attempt to keep the kids from the same school on the same team. Coaches are NOT allowed to pick their team.
9.) How do I register my child?
Click here for our Online Registration page. There will be limited "in-person" sign ups. . . Information flyers will be posted on our website and through the schools on dates and times.
10.) My child has never played basketball before, is this ok?
Although some players are more competitive than others, we strive to our coaches to teach the fundamentals of the game and make it FUN for everyone. We also follow the CPYBL league playing time rules which states ALL players must play a minimum of 1 1/2 quarters each game. (1 Quarter for Athletic).
